Just a few blocks from our 17th Ave location is another example of how exciting Calgary is these days. At Kartar, owner Sumer Singh creates custom-made contemporary and sustainable furniture in his downstairs workshop and features them upstairs (along with other designers) in his storefront. It’s a cozy place so don’t be afraid to swing by and check it out. 4/5 #FnoNeighborhoodGuide #Calgary

Time for another Frank & Oak Neighborhood Guide. This time, we’re checking out Calgary’s 17th Ave and the Beltline.

Lucky for us, one of Calgary’s best coffee spots, Analog Coffee, is just down the street from our store. The cafe started out at the Calgary Farmer’s Market and has since upgraded to these cozy confines. The name? It’s a reference to the cafe’s desire to hand-craft every cup. Check the long row of LPs on the back shelves - which they’ve collected from record stores around town. They aren’t just for show - you’ll regularly hear the pops and scratches of vinyl records filling the room as you sip your next-level cup. 1/5 #FnONeighborhoodGuide #Calgary

Mile End is also home to our favorite bookstore, Drawn & Quarterly. D&Q just turned 25 and is the publisher of some of the best independent comics in the world. You’ll find plenty of their own comics there, as well as a variety of genres from classics to cookbooks. They also regularly host book launches and signings. It’s definitely a must-stop. 5/5 #fnoneighborhoodguide #montreal (at Librairie Drawn & Quarterly)
